shake it, baby.
Our place is finally looking more and more like home. Eric and I went up to IKEA again (yesterday actually) and got a few more things that were absolutely necessary (and perhaps a few that were not): a computer desk, computer chair, two chairs and an outdoor rug for the balcony, nightstands, and a mirror. We got a couple little things for the kitchen that really aren't worth mentioning (does anyone care to read about my new oven mitts? probably not). I'll post pictures of our place soon. We've still got some work to do.
I am really, really glad that I'm taking two art classes this semester. I mean, the work is keeping me busy, and I am a little intimidated by this whole art community that I'm stepping into, but it's worth it. I'm learning a lot, basic techniques mostly. It's a lot of work, but it's the most rewarding thing I've done in college thus far.
Mmm, avocado shake. I know that sounds kind of gross, but it's so good! Combine 2-3 avocados, 1 cup soymilk or milk (whichever you prefer), 4 big scoops vanilla ice cream, and about 5 tablespoons sugar in a blender and you've got it.
I filed my taxes for the first time ever. I'm getting a huge refund because I barely made beans last year. It pays to be poor... in an oxymoronic sort of way, I guess. Now if only that money was in my account right now... I have bills practically knocking on my door and a plane ticket to buy.
My Plate of Things to Do:
- Complete and mail Champva application: apparently I'm eligible for this insurance but was unaware until now! Currently I have no health insurance because my mom's insurance company assumed that because I'm 18, I must not be attending college (not that it covers anything anyway). Fortunately she's changing jobs and getting a better insurance. Unfortunately it won't be active till the end of April. Until then, I live gravely fearful of injury or illness.
- Readmission to U of A: hey, why not? No really. I'll have my AA this semester, and now that I know what I want to do, I need to move on to bigger and better things (again).
- Apply for scholarships and file the FAFSA.
Anyway, I have two tests to study for and mounds of homework to go with that. Fun!
